FORUM LIFE DURING WARTIME

Heard of a poster that has plenty of weapons
packed up and ready to go
Heard of some gravesites, out by the highway
a place where noposter knows
The sound of gunfire, off in the distance
I'm getting used to it now
Lived in LMA, lived in the DEADHOOK
I've lived all over this town

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco stewin,
this ain't no fooling around
No time for Dancing Bears, or Dire dovey
I ain't got time for that now

Transmit the message, to the receiver
hope for an answer some day
I got three Usernames, couple of IPs
don't even know my real name
High on a hillside, ethernet's loaded
everything's ready to roll
I post in the daytime, I post in the nightime
I might not ever get home

This ain't no party, this ain't no disco stewin'
this ain't no fooling around
This ain't no mudd club, or S.D.H.
I ain't got time for that now

Heard about LMA? Heard about DEADHOOK?
Heard about what GOP, said?
ROB oughta know not to stand by the monitor
somebody might see him up there
I got some groceries, some peanut butter
to last a couple of days
But Ian ain't got no speakers
ain't got no headphones
ain't got no records to play

Why stay in college? Why go to night school?
Gonna be different this time?
Can't write a letter, can't send a postcard
Huntr can't write nothing at all
This ain't no party, this ain't no disco stewin'
this ain't no fooling around
I'd love you hold you, I'd like to kiss you
I ain't got no time for that now

Trouble in transit, got through the roadblock
we blended in with the crowd
We got computers, we're tapping phone lines
I know that ain't allowed
We dress like students, we dress like housewives
or in a suit and a tie
I changed my hairstyle so many times now
don't know what I look like!
You make me shiver, I feel so tender
we make a pretty good team
Don't get exhausted, I'll do some driving
you ought to get you some sleep
Get your instructions, follow directions
then you should change your address
Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day
whatever you think is best
Burned all my notebooks, what good are notebooks?
They won't help me survive
My chest is aching, burns like a furnace
the burning keeps me alive
Try to stay healthy, physical fitness
don't want to catch no disease
Try to be careful, don't take no chances
you better watch what you say

WTF? The last thing I need is an endorsement from you...next thing I know I'll be getting another frickin award or some such...damn.

JK, guy...love to hear from you these days...My brother, who sadly died this past spring, was an Alaska fan...lived there for 10 yrs, hiked the Brooks Range in 70, and I have many valued stories of the place. Never been myself, but hope to make it sometime. You and JOTS, right? Any others of "us" up there too?

so sorry to hear of your bro's death William...it would be awesome (to say the least) for you to experience the north as he did

my igloo would be a monumental dog sled journey to JOTS...Bird Creek Alaska chimes in hereabouts once in a while...as of late i have noticed Northstar's posts...i seem to remember someone from Scandinavia in the distant LMA forum past (?)

it took some serious convincing on my part to move my then young family north of 60...my wife still claims that this place is more beautiful than i had ever described it to her...

then again, we had a total blast in Oakland/San Fran NY's 1988...ain't never gonna forget that one

Thanks man; it has been a tough year. You know, the beauty of that place is something stark and majestic (he was a bit of a photograher)...he lived for a while in Homer and Seward, also Anchorage and even Barrow, so have lots of photos of different places.

Take care.

Mr Tell,

I dont know if an "old fart" like yourself is in to torrents but I saw this and thought of you. Looks like a nice 1970 show is available courtesy of who else but Charlie Miller. Damn that guy is good. As you may or may not know my preference is for 1981, and there's been plenty of those around as well due to Charlie.

Hey Pat--sorry! You're the one that posted the link to our man Byrne, right? Love that one, and the others nearby in Utube...As I said before, I think THeads is one of THE bands of the past 30 yrs. Amazing stuff.

Anyhow, you're the one responsible for this thread as that post made me think of the song when the shit boiled over today...

I dig you're take on that tune..I've been on a big talking heads kicks as of late, they often have a show or two on panicstream and quite a bit of Jerry stuff too if you've never checked it out it's worth a look, I'm not that big of a Panic fan but the other stuff is worth a peek.

Man, I can't even remember the last time I listened to Fear of Music, but in honor of your nicely bent lyrics, I'll give it a whirl. Whatever possessed you, WT?

Speaking of what GOP said on Deadhook: not only is this forum riddled with cancer, but it's metastasizing!

There ain't no disco stewing around.

ever see the Simpson's Garage sale episode??

Homer is selling a Jacket that says, "Disco Stu".

Homer: It was gonna say disco stud, but I ran out of rhinestones.

Stu's Buddy: You gonna buy it Stu?

Disco Stu: Disco Stu does not advertise!

Done. I think. Sorry if I got it wrong.

Everybody should add and modify as they see fit.
